How to Find Your Foundation Shade for Pakistani Skin
Share
Choosing the right foundation shade is the single biggest reason makeup looks natural – or looks like a mask. Pakistani skin tones are wonderfully diverse, from fair and light to wheatish, tan and deep, and most of us have a warm, golden or olive undertone. This guide walks you through a simple, step-by-step way to find your perfect shade at home, and shows how the Sweetface shade range maps to each skin tone.
Short on time? Take our free Find Your Shade quiz – answer four quick questions and get matched to a Sweetface foundation, paint stick, concealer and powder shade.
Step 1: Know your skin tone (depth)
Skin tone is how light or deep your skin is. Look at your face in natural daylight, without makeup, and pick the closest group:
- Fair – very light skin that may burn easily in the sun.
- Light – light skin with a soft glow.
- Medium / Wheatish – the most common skin tone in Pakistan.
- Tan / Dusky – golden-brown skin that tans easily.
- Deep – rich, deep brown skin.
Always judge your tone from your jawline and neck, not your cheeks. Cheeks can be redder or darker from sun, while your foundation has to blend into your neck.
Step 2: Find your undertone
Undertone is the colour beneath the surface of your skin. Two people can have the same depth but need different shades because their undertones are different. Try these quick tests in daylight:
- Vein test: veins on your inner wrist look green → warm; blue or purple → cool; a mix of both → neutral.
- Jewellery test: gold looks better on you → warm; silver looks better → cool; both suit you → neutral.
- White vs off-white: pure white clothes make you look dull → warm; cream or ivory makes you look yellow → cool.
Most Pakistani women have warm or neutral undertones. If a foundation looks grey, ashy or too pink on you, the undertone is wrong – not just the depth.
Step 3: Match your skin type to the right formula
Your skin type decides which texture will last longest:
- Oily skin: choose a waterproof, oil-control formula and set it with powder. The Sweetface Waterproof Paint Stick and Oil Free Liquid Foundation are made for long hours and humid weather, followed by Oil Control Pressed Powder.
- Combination skin: a cream stick on cheeks and a light dusting of powder on your T-zone works best.
- Normal or dry skin: the creamy, buildable Cream Blend Paint Stick blends smoothly without dragging, and a light veil of Fix Loose Setting Powder keeps it in place.

Step 4: Do the jawline swatch test
- Pick two or three shades close to your tone.
- Swipe a small stripe of each on your jawline, from cheek down onto your neck.
- Wait two to three minutes – many foundations oxidise slightly as they settle.
- Check in natural daylight. The shade that "disappears" into your skin is your match.
Concealer: one shade lighter or the same shade?
- Under the eyes: choose a concealer half to one shade lighter than your foundation to brighten dark circles.
- On spots and marks: use the exact same shade as your foundation so it blends invisibly.
- Very dark circles: first correct with a peach or orange shade such as Pro-Coverage Orange 07, then conceal with your skin shade.

Common shade-matching mistakes
- Choosing a shade lighter than your skin to look "fairer" – it makes the face look grey and separates from the neck.
- Testing on the back of the hand – your hand is a different colour from your face.
- Judging under yellow indoor lights – always check in daylight.
- Ignoring your undertone – the right depth with the wrong undertone still looks off.
Frequently asked questions
Which foundation shade suits wheatish skin in Pakistan?
Most wheatish (medium) skin tones match shades such as Cream Blend Paint Stick SF Chinese or SF 38, Oil Free Liquid Foundation 03 Medium or 04 Beige. Warm undertones usually prefer the golden shades.
Should my foundation match my face or my neck?
Your neck and jawline. This avoids a visible line between face and neck in photos.
What if I am between two shades?
Choose the slightly deeper one for summer and the lighter one for winter, or mix both on the back of your hand to create a custom shade.
Can I get help choosing my shade?
Yes. Take the Find Your Shade quiz or send us a daylight selfie without makeup on WhatsApp and our team will suggest your shade.
